Sr Staff Accountant

Job Summary

The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining intercompany accounting activity for all Mexican entities, including intercompany payments, roll-forward analysis, reconciliations, and related support schedules. This position maintains loan schedules for all Mexico entities, including interest calculations and supporting documentation, and processes journal entries related to intercompany activity. The role partners with Finance and Accounting teams to ensure accurate reporting, timely close deliverables, strong controls, and proper documentation for regional accounting processes.

Specific Expected Contributions

• Maintains and supports key accounting processes and deliverables for Mexico entities, with primary responsibility for intercompany activity and related accounting schedules:

• Maintains intercompany accounting for all Mexican entities, including reconciliations, payments, roll-forward analysis, and supporting documentation.

• Maintains loan schedules for all Mexico entities, including interest calculations, amortization support, and related accounting analysis.

• Processes journal entries related to intercompany activity, loan activity, interest calculations, and required month-end close adjustments.

• Coordinates with internal Finance and Accounting teams to resolve reconciling items, support accurate reporting, and ensure timely completion of close deliverables.

• Prepares and maintains detailed schedules, supporting analysis, and documentation for intercompany balances, payments, and loan-related activity.

• Identifies process improvement opportunities within intercompany accounting, payment tracking, loan schedules, and month-end close processes.

• Performs analytical assessments related to intercompany balances, roll-forward activity, payments, loan schedules, interest calculations, and related accounting trends.

• Maintains controls and documentation to ensure intercompany and loan-related data is accurate, complete, properly supported, and consistently reported.

• Strengthens alignment of accounting schedules and journal entries with underlying intercompany and loan activity.

• Supports an atmosphere of strong financial controls by adhering to MVW policies and procedures, proactively identifying issues, and assisting with resolution of reconciling items.

Specific Candidate Profile

Successful candidates should possess strong finance and accounting knowledge, relationship skills, business judgment, analytical capability, process improvement orientation, and the ability to influence across internal teams and external partners.

Education/Experience

• BS/BA in Finance, Accounting degree or related field required.

• Proficiency in PC-based applications, including Excel, MS access and Word.

• PeopleSoft experience preferred.

• Proven analytical skills include the ability to reconcile accounts and explain variances.

• Proven ability to work independently.

• Detail oriented highly developed organizational skills.

• Ability to communicate effectively, both written and oral.

• Experience maintaining loan schedules, interest calculations, roll-forward analysis, and related accounting support preferred.

• Mexico entity accounting and intercompany accounting experience a plus.

• Demonstrated ability to support cross-functional collaboration and assist with process improvements.

• Broad knowledge of MVW's global accounting and finance processes and systems. 

Skills & Attributes

• Strong knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office products, specifically Word, Excel and Access.

• Strong business acumen, service orientation and excellent communication skills.

• Bilingual with fluency in English and Spanish.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with Orlando based teams and teams based in various regions of Mexico.

• Demonstrated expertise in financial accounting, reconciliations, intercompany activity, journal entries, and financial analysis.

• Highly organized and able to handle multiple priorities at any given point in time.

• Able to translate business needs into operational finance.
