Title: Staff Accountant

Scope/Qualifications Summary: 

The Staff Account is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timely processing of financial data across multiple accounting systems. This role supports daily accounting operations, prepares financial reports, and assists with accounts payable and receivable functions while maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.

Education & Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED certification required.
  • College degree is preferred, and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven financial knowledge and computer skills required.
  • Night Audit experience or similar work experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Long hours sometimes required, including nights and weekends.
  • Light work-Exerting 20 pounds of force occasionally and 10 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

  • Must be able to prioritize departmental functions to meet due dates and deadlines.
  • Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic arithmetic function.

Duties and Job Functions:

  • Review night audit packs and looks for discrepancies in reports or daily receipts and notify DOF and department heads of issues. 
  • Complete the daily income journal (posting of revenue) timely each day. 
  • Count the cash drops daily and prepare deposit slips daily for weekly deposit pickup.
  • Respond to all chargebacks that are within our department threshold •Answer and respond to all guest inquiries for folios or billing questions 
  • Post payments and wires daily -these come from the sales team or DOF or Senior Accountant
  • Process all food and beverage invoices.
  • Assist with other accounts payable/receivable as needed.
  • Approach all encounters with guests and team members in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with SW Hotel Management standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which includes proper dress and correct nametag when working.
  • Comply at all times with SW Hotel Management standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Must, at all times, be attentive, friendly, helpful and courteous to all guests, managers, and other team members.

  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with SW Hotel Management standards, as required by scheduling, which will
  • vary according to the needs of the hotel.
  • Comply at all times with SW Hotel Management standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Process invoices for payment in a timely manner.
  • Prepares and reconciles sales reports. Anticipates cash needs, maintains cash flows and prepares bank deposits
  • Maintenance of control system for payment distribution.
  • Maintain and purchase order files.
  • Maintain all vendor files.
  • Maintain invoice tracking for invoices distributed for approval.
  • Control accounts payable check distribution.
  • Maintain and administer all internal accounts payable controls as defined.
  • Full responsibilities of time clock controls and reporting.
  • Calculation and balancing of quarterly State and Federal tax reports.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.
  • Attend meetings/training as required by management
