Job Description

Position Summary: The bartender is responsible for providing the highest quality of service to guests in an attentive, courteous and efficient manner. Service guests by fulfilling their beverage and collecting payment.

Essential functions: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  1.  Serve food and drinks for guests using suggestive selling techniques. 
  2.  Have a thorough knowledge of menus and applicable specials. 
  3.  Ring drink orders into computer immediately, collect money from guests.
  4.  Prepare beverages according to Company recipes and standards.
  5.  Prepare garnishments for drinks.
  6.  Maintain bottles in accordance to departmental guidelines to support efficiency.
  7.  Be able to operate the hotel computer system,
  8.  Perform opening and closing procedures along with side work as assigned. 
  9. Follow proper procedure regarding cash handling, following cash bank reconciliation and end of shift drop.
  10.  Maintain a clean bar, including: glasses, utensils, counters, sinks, shelves, storage space, and prep station.
  11.  Known and comply with food handling and liquor laws.
  12.  Ensures compliance with all cash handling and bill handling policies and procedures.
  13.  Engage guests in a cordial, efficient, and professional manner.
  14.  Report bar details at the end of the night to return bar to par.
  15.  Perform all bar set ip and restocking/replenishment of bar inventory and supplies.
  16.  Adhere to hotel grooming standards.
  17.  Assist food and beverage team as situations arise.
  18.  Resolve guest complains and perform service recover when required (and escalate to immediate supervisor if needed)
  19.  Provide exceptional guest service by periodically checking in on guest to ensure guest satisfaction.
  20.  Perform any additional tasks requested by management

Education: High school education/GED.

Experience: Previous experience in a hotel or related field preferred. 

Hours required: Scheduled days and time vary based on hotel needs. Must be able to work weekends and holidays.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be able to pass TIPS certification/alcohol awareness training and food handler training
  • Knowledge or and ability to operate a computer.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.

121 Room Hotel

Hyatt Centric Fort Lauderdale, currently under construction is slated to open in 2020. The 238 modern-designed guest rooms will occupy the first 15 floors of this multi-story high-rise condo-hotel building –121 luxury condominiums are for sale on the 16th floor and above. The hotel amenities will include 8,500 sq. ft. restaurant with a large exterior patio space at lobby-level, an indoor/outdoor bar seating area on Las Olas Blvd, an elevated pool with views of Las Olas River, 6,000 sq.ft. of meeting and banquet space, 24-hour valet service and an onsite parking garage. Its downtown location will provide its guests and residents with a wide array of activities, including the plethora of upscale shopping and dining, easy access to the white sandy beaches of Fort Lauderdale and Miami, as well as having the arts, culture and entertainment at their fingertips.
