General Maintenance Associate


The Maintenance Host contributes to the hotel’s commitment to high quality guest satisfaction and teamwork by safely and efficiently maintaining the property i.e. performs preventative maintenance; repairs on mechanical, electrical, kitchen, and laundry equipment, requiring some skills and experience in these areas, as well as good communication skills.

Essential Functions of the Job:

  • Ability to work flexible schedules (including weekends, nights, holidays) to meet hotel/guest needs
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and guests; (i.e. use appropriate language, display proper tone, attitude and body language when communicating.)
  • Ability to understand  and follow instructions as directed by supervisor/manager
  • Reporting to work on time and ready to begin your shift (being tardy places an unfair burden on the team)

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Complies with State /Federal laws and hotel policies/ procedures, i.e. Employee Handbook

Arrives to work on-time and ready to begin shift.  (Follows call-out policy.)

Arrives to work in appropriate work attire (uniform, foot wear, name tag) neat and professional in appearance

Seeks approval from management prior to working overtime (i.e. punching in early or staying beyond scheduled shift) 

Acknowledges our guest with a smile and friendly “hello.”  Promptly attends to guest needs

Displays a positive “can do” attitude while maintaining a high level of professionalism consistent with the company values

Demonstrates a team behavior and attitude of working together to accomplish tasks (even if outside specific job duties) 

Completes work in a timely manner and meets productivity standards/expectations

General repair of plumbing, VTAC units, room furniture, bathroom  fixtures and tile, painting, wall vinyl, electronic locks, television, and carpentry

Completes routine equipment checks and performs preventative maintenance on hotel’s machinery, i.e. boilers, chiller, laundry equipment, vacuums, exercise equipment, and ice machines as scheduled

Performs regular preventative maintenance to guest rooms as assigned

Responds to guest maintenance request in a prompt and courteous manner

Maintains knowledge of the hotel fire alarm  & sprinkler systems

Locates and corrects in-room heating, ventilation, and air conditioning malfunctions

Keeps work area clean, neat, and well organized

Knowledge and use of basic hand and power tools required

Cleans pool deck and pool every morning and again as needed in periods of high usage

Daily check and documentation of pool chemicals to maintain correct levels, and adjust as necessary

Daily verification and communication to Front Desk about each room in OOO Status

Daily parking lot cleaning and sweeping at all entrances (including snow & ice removal during winter)

Performs additional duties as assigned
