Job Description

Position Summary: The Food & Beverage Manager is responsible for overseeing the banquet and catering operations, HYbar and gallery kitchen. Provide all guests with courteous, professional, efficient and flexible service that supports the hotel's operating concept, brand promise and standards.

  1.  Regularly walk and inspect all areas in order to direct work with emphasis on sanitation and cleanliness.
  2.  Have a thorough knowledge of menus and applicable specials.
  3.  Supervise the daily operations of the Banquet area (review set-up and food and beverage preparation and service) to ensure compliance with Banquet Event Orders, safety regulations, and procedures and to ensure an optimal level of service, quality, and hospitality. 
  4.  Lead, guide and train all banquet associates in how to perform their job duties to the best of their abilities.
  5.  Ensure appropriate inventory of supplies and materials needed for associates to perform their jobs, including glass, china, silver, A/V equipment, etc.
  6. Work closely with Catering Sales Manager to ensure client expectations are exceeded.
  7.  Supervise and ensure brand standards are met.
  8.  Remain in food and beverage areas during peak business hours, greet and engage with guests to ensure an enjoyable dining experience.
  9.  Be able to operate the hotel computer system.
  10.  Perform opening and closing procedures with service staff.
  11.  Follow proper procedure regarding cash handling, following cash bank reconciliation and end of shift drop.
  12.  Spot check guest checks to ensure proper check handling.
  13.  Check side work of staff.
  14.  Assist with staff scheduling and payroll.
  15.  Establish, direct and review alcohol / beverage procedures to ensure adequate security and accountability.
  16.  Known and comply with state food handling and liquor laws.

Requirements

Education: High School Education or GED

Skills and ability: Must be able to pass TIPS certification/alcohol awareness training and food handler training.

Hours required: Scheduled days and time vary based on hotel needs, weekend and holiday hours will be required.

  • Ability to travel.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds.
  • Ability to provide friendly guest service with a smile.
